Edge Of Insanity or Far Beyond Driven?

Pre workout or fat burner? In this post we’re comparing Insane Lab’s Edge of Insanity and Far Beyond Driven. Originally these products had an almost identical formula, now Edge of Insanity has been revised. So it’s time to see if these products still compare!

The Breakdown

In this post, we will only be going over Edge of Insanity and Far Beyond Driven. However, if you want to know more about Kush Rush and how it compares to Far Beyond Driven, Click Here. First, let’s go over what’s shared between these products.

What Do They Share:

There are 5 ingredients shared between them:

  • Caffeine Anhydrous
  • Theophylline Anhydrous
  • Theobromine
  • Yohimbine HCl
  • Rauwolfia Vomitoria

That means they have thermogenic and appetite suppressing properties, as well as increasing your energy. But when it comes to a pre workout, we can’t just have stimulants (even though it’s usually what people like). That’s why Edge of Insanity has a whole other blend for improved endurance and pumps. With that said, let’s go over what’s different.

FAR-BEYOND-DRIVEN-EDGE OF INSANITY LABEL

How Are They Different:

The ingredients aren’t the only thing that separates these products as you can imagine. Although they both consists of prop blends, Edge of Insanity contains more mg of active ingredients per serving. Of course this can be entirely due to it having more ingredients, but we can’t be sure. Surprisingly though, Far beyond Driven has more servings per container. You can take up to 2 caps, which would even out the servings. But if you find 1 cap is all you need, then you have a 2 month supply per bottle.

The Shared Ingredients

Now that we’ve gone over what’s the same and what’s different, let’s dive into the actual ingredients. As we’ve mentioned before, all stimulants will have thermogenic and appetite suppressing properties, but some are better than others.

Caffeine Anhydrous

Caffeine is one stimulant you see in almost every fat burner. It can be listed as a bunch of different names, but Caffeine Anhydrous is the most common in supplements. Anhydrous means without water. So caffeine anhydrous is a processed, dehydrated form of caffeine. So why do we like caffeine in a fat burner?

Caffeine is great for increasing and improving metabolism, appetite suppression, energy, mood and even cognitive functions like memory. (1)

Yohimbine HCl

There are a couple of ways yohimbine functions. The main way is through blocking alpha-2 adrenergic receptors located in fat cells. Once yohimbine has bound with a fat cell, it “turns off” the alpha receptor. Which allows the fat cells to mobilize and burn off. (2, 3)

Rauwolfia Vomitoria

One of the alkaloids of Rauwolfia Vomitoria is yohimbine. Because of this, it shares similar effects, including its thermogenic properties. But, what makes Rauwolfia Vomitoria special is that it doesn’t raise blood pressure. In fact, it was actually used to treat hypertension.  (4)

THE DIFFERENT INGREDIENTS

Different Ingredients:

Phenibut

As we mentioned above, phenibut is really more common in sleep aids. This is due to it’s relaxing effects. But that’s not all it has to offer. Phenibut is also great for improving mood and can aid in increasing focus. †

Guarana Seed Extract

While Guarana Seed Extract has it’s own set of benefits, it’s also standardized to 22% caffeine. So you’re getting the fat burning effects through this mechanism. (5)

Green Tea Extract

There is a ton of research on Green Tea’s effect on weight loss. Some of the more recognized benefits include: (6)

  • Improving your body’s efficiency at burning calories
  • Improve exercise performance
  • Reduce visceral (belly fat) and inflammation
Kanna Extract

Kanna Extract is an interesting new ingredient. Much like Phenibut, its intended to improve ingredients. This may in return, aid in focus. But, we wouldn’t be able to compare these ingredients just yet. We’d need more customer feedback and research on both. (7,8)

Agmatine

Agmatine is a metabolite of L-Arginine, an amino acid. Research suggests it may govern nitric oxide (NO) synthesis. As well as working to properly regulate cellular energy. This makes agmatine sulfate a popular pump-inducing supplement choice. But further research is needed on this ingredient. (9,10)

Glycerpump

Glycerol promotes the prevention of dehydration, improved exercise performance, and increased muscular pumps.(11)

Beta-Alanine

As you workout your muscle cells excrete lactic acid. Lactic acid build up is one of the things associated with muscle soreness and fatigue. Beta-alanine buffers the lactic acid from building up. As a result you will be able to get a few more reps out in the gym. (12)

Bioperine

Bioperine may increase the bioavailability of the other ingredients within this formula. But also may have it’s own thermogenic properties. (13)

WHAT TO EXPECT

What To Expect

With so many ingredients shared between these products,  you can image there would be similar effects. But there are some key differences. The addition of the endurance, vascularity, and pump blend are going to promote those pre workout features in Edge of Insanity.

These include the buffering away of lactic acid and increasing blood flow, which will promote an increase in endurance (aka more reps) and better pumps.

Far Beyond Driven, on the other hand, is going to be great for energy and the other fat burning properties. One notable effect from these products is the “feel good” effect gained from Phenibut and Kanna Extract. While Phenibut has more of reputation for its mood boosting effects, Kanna Extract does look promising through the research provided.

But, it is important to note there was a common side effect (headaches) noted throughout human trials. With the addition of caffeine, it is possible this side of effect will be prominent.  In order to help avoid this, it important to stay hydrated.

What Should You Try?

If you’re looking for energy, Far Beyond Driven is for you. But, if you’re looking for energy and the performance aid, check out Edge of Insanity. Lastly, for the best “feel good” energy, check out Kush Rush.
