Paradoxine® Grains of Paradise:
Paradoxine or grains of paradise is the first real fat burning ingredient in this formula and is going to be the main contributor to the thermogenesis (25,26).
Bioperine, which comes from black pepper, is considered a bioavailability enhancer. Meaning it improves the bioavailability of the other ingredients in the formula (27).

Mild-Stimulants
If you’ve tried multiple fat burners, you know they can vary in a lot of ways. One of which, is how stimulating it is. Too much and you can feel nauseous and jittery, too little and you could be falling asleep instead of getting your day going. Unfortunately much like Goldilocks, you might have to try a few before you find the perfect one.
This section contains the fat burners, customers reviewed as being mild, however everyone’s experience can be different.
What is Methyldrene 25?
Methyldrene 25 is our first ephedra-containing fat burner, but it does contain other stimulants as well. Methyldrene is one of a few fat burners from Cloma Pharma that is meant to mimic the famous “ECA” Stack, which was the go-to for bodybuilders trying to lose weight. Originally the ECA Stack contained ephedrine, caffeine, and aspirin.
The stimulants here (ephedrine and caffeine) work great alone, but together become an iconic duo. They actually enhance the effects of each other, which, for some individuals, could lead to more weight loss. Then comes in the aspirin. The role of aspirin in this stack is to keep norepinephrine from decreasing. As a result, the effects of the stimulants are maintained (28).
Unfortunately, like some of our other favorite stimulants, ephedrine is no longer available for use in dietary supplements. However, ephedra (the plant ephedrine is derived from) is still up for grabs and as effective as ephedrine for weight loss (29).
With all that said let’s get into the breakdown.
“ECA” Blend:
Caffeine:
Caffeine is our first stimulant on the label and the most common stimulant in fat burners. When the caffeine content is provided on the label, it can be a great way to determine your tolerance. For example, in Methyldrene 25 there is 250 mg of caffeine and for reference a single cup of coffee contains about 95 mg.
That’s a little over 2 and half cups of coffee. So if you know more than one cup of coffee gives you the jitters, Methyldrene may not be for you.
Caffeine also plays more of role in fat burning than just as a catalyst to ephedra. It’s effective for both appetite suppression and as a thermogenic, in addition to providing energy (30).
White Willow Bark Powder:
White Willow Bark is actually very similar to aspirin, so it’s role in Methlydrene is exactly the same as in the ECA Stack.
Ephedra Viridis:
As we mentioned above, ephedra is the whole plant, where ephedrine is an alkaloid that comes from it. Ephedrine is not allowed in supplements, but if you removed this alkaloid, the remaining ephedra is still viable. Which is the case here and in all other ephedra contain fat burners. Because ephedra is missing the ephedrine, it may not be as strong in the energy department. Luckily this doesn’t seem to effect it as an overall weight loss aid.
Fat-Burning Support System:
Citrus Aurantium Extract:
Citrus extracts are very common in fat burners to increase thermogenesis. This particular extract goes by a few names, but the most common is Synephrine and Bitter Orange. This extract is great for increasing energy and calorie expenditure (31).
Panax Ginseng extract is an adaptogen and like the others we’ve already mentioned it has multiple features including it’s anti-obesity effects (32).
Ginger Powder:
Like most spices, ginger has thermogenic properties. This means it can help your weight loss by increasing the calories you use (33).
Cocoa Extract (Theobroma Cocoa):
Cocoa extract is very popular in fat burner for it’s benefits in fat oxidation and appetite suppression and is the source for theobromine(34).
Cayenne Pepper:
Cayenne pepper is another spice that is commonly used in fat burners to increase thermogenesis, appetite suppression, and speed up metabolism (35).
Cactus Cladodes Powder:
This is a great source of fiber when eaten from the source, but in a fat burner it was shown to increase fat excretion in adults (36).
Green Tea Extract:
There is a ton of research on Green Tea’s effect on weight loss. (37)

- Reduce visceral (belly fat) and inflammation
Yohimbe:
Yohimbe is another common stimulant/thermogenic. The main way yohimbe works is by blocking the alpha-2 adrenergic receptors located in fat cells. By blocking these receptors, yohimbe could increase fat loss. But these effects are varied and more research is needed (38).
The main difference in Yohimbine vs Yohimbe is that the active ingredient in Yohimbe bark extract is Yohimbine. While Yohimbe has a bunch of alkaloids, one of the main constitutes is yohimbine. So you’re still getting the benefits of yohimbine, just with some more alkaloids.
Griffonia Seed Extract:
Griffonia is a source for the compound 5-HTP, which is a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin. For weight loss purposes, Griffonia may increase appetite suppression, while reducing anxiety (39).

What is Super HD?
Super HD is popular fat burner from Cellucor. The bulk of it’s ingredients come from it’s proprietary blend, leaving caffeine and green tea extract disclosed. What makes Super HD different from the other fat burners here is the options, not only are there 2 sizes for the capsule version, but there is also a powder version. The powder version comes in peach mango and strawberry kiwi.

Rauwolfia Root Bark Extract:

What is Fastin?
Fastin is another fat burner gaining popularity in 2020. In fact, it’s commonly compared to the prescription weight loss aid, Phentermine. So what’s the difference? Phentermine is an amphetamine-like prescription medication used to increase weight loss and reduce appetite.
Phentermine may be a stronger weight-loss aid because of it’s similarities to amphetamine, but that can comes at the cost of some common side effects like:

- constipation
- diarrhea
- dry mouth
- headache
- vomiting
- decreased libido

Thermogenic are our favorite kind of fat burner. Why? Cause they bring on the heat! To be successful in your weight loss journey, there a key mathematical formula to keep in mind: Calories in vs Calories out. For gaining weight, you need your calories in to exceed your calories out.
To maintain, calories in should equal calories out. But, in order to lose weight, calories in should be less than calories out. By adding in a thermogenic, you help your body burn more calories through increasing your metabolism.

Black Tea Extract:

Higenamine HCl:
Higenamine is a beta-receptor agonist that is often compared to Ephedrine and Synephrine. But, Higenamine shows properties of a vasodilator, which leads to increased blood flow to the muscles. Unlike in most stimulants that are vaso-constricting (62).
Evodiamine:
Evodiamine is like capsaicin in that it increases thermogenesis (63).
Rutacarpine:
Rutacarpine is extracted from the dried fruit of Chinese herb Evodia rutaecarpa. Similar to evodiamine, rutacarpine is thermogenic agent (64).
Peppermint Extract:
Seeing peppermint extract in a fat burner might confuse you. No, Hellfire does not leave your mouth minty-fresh, peppermint actually plays several roles in weight loss and digestion.

What is Black Mamba?
If you weren’t a fan of Hellfire, chances are you went for Black Mamba instead. While both fat burners are strong thermogenics, Black Mamba has more active ingredients. But more active ingredients doesn’t necessarily mean it’s stronger.

How is Black Widow Hardcore?
Black Widow is our last fat burner in the thermogenic section. While, we’re listing it out best of 2020 fat burners, Black Widow actually isn’t as popular as the fat burners in this section. But, it does rank up in terms of strength. Mood boosters and focus an enhancers are not only a great thing to have in your supplement arsenal, but can also be great for weight. Mood boosters can be both stimulants or non-stimulants. Deciding which is best for you depends on your goals and how high your stimulant tolerance is.
If you’re already getting your caffeine-fix from another source, we’d recommend sticking to a non-stimulant mood booster. But if you’re looking for more of a weight loss aid and mood booster, the mood boosters with stimulants may be a better option.
What is Oxy Xtreme?
Oxy Xtreme is advertised as the mood boosting fat burner. As you can see on the label, this is a stimulant-enhanced, mood-boosting fat burner. Stimulant’s in itself may have some mood boosting properties (think about how your first cup of coffee or tea in the morning)(67), but having ingredients like Eria Jarensis helps as it is known for its mood lifting effects.

What is Kanna Rush?
Kanna Rush is the replacement feel-good fat burner for Kush Rush. Like Kush Rush, Kanna Rush isn’t very stimulant heavy. There are stimulants in the formula, but the most abundant ingredient is the Kanna. So if you were in the market for a fat burner with an emphasis on mood boosting effect and your tolerance to stims is on the lower side, this is for you.
Kanna:
Kanna or Sceletium tortusoum is recognized as psychoactive herb. However, does not appear to be hallucinogenic or habit forming. But it may be effective for reducing stress and anxiety (71).
Theophylline:
Much like ephedrine, theophylline is used medicinally and may play a role in weight loss. Medicinally, like ephedrine, it is used as a bronchodilator for treatment of asthma (72). In terms of weight loss, may increase energy expenditure as significantly as ephedrine (73).

Kanna Z is just Kanna Extract. So if you’re looking for just a mood boosting product without stims, this is an example of that. And if you were a fan of Psycho Pharma’s product Pheniz, This is the replacement for it.

Synadrene was created to replace the old formula of Synedrex (which is also featured in this blog). However, Synedrex has since been reformulated. So if you were a fan of the older version of Synedrex, this is still your best replacement for that formula.

This is the newest formula of Synedrex, which is slightly different to the version Synadrene mimic. This version has a stronger stimulant/energy complex, where as previously it was more mild. In addition to the stimulant’s providing energy, Synedrex’s formula encompasses stimulant with higher euphoric properties.

What is Lipodrene?
Lipodrene is our second top selling fat burner and one of the top inquires we get on Lipodrene is how it compares to Hydroxyelite, which we go over here. Lipodrene with ephedra compared to the other lipodrenes in the line is more mild. As you can see by our list of ingredients below, almost all of the ingredients in Lipodrene have been previously reviewed, except for Cassia Nomame.
Cassia Nomame:
Cassia nomame may prevent the stomach and intestines from absorbing dietary fat. This causes dietary fat to be excreted, which might promote weight loss in some people†. But more research is needed for this ingredient.
We would recommend Lipodrene for someone who’s tolerance to stimulants is a little higher than a beginner. But if your tolerance to stimulants is high, this version may not be strong enough for you.

What is OxyElite Pro?
OxyElite Pro is BACK! It has been years since we saw OxyElite Pro and even longer since we saw it with a strong formula. If you’re looking at the formula, it probably reminds you of another fat burner we have listed in this post, Hydroxyelite. That’s because Hydroxyelite was made to replace OxyElite Pro.
