Synedrex Review: Old VS NEW

When Synedrex, By Metabolic Nutrition, was first released; it had a huge impact and easily became many customers go-to fat burner. So why the formula revision? Around April 2015, the US FDA set their eyes on an ingredient known to be in Synedrex, AMP Citrate (also known as DMBA). For all our DMAA-fans, the next part of this story won’t surprise you. The FDA sent warning letters to several companies indicating their products were not in compliance with dietary ingredient conditions.(1) As a result, these products were reformulated without AMP Citrate.

Since then, Synedrex has had additional formula revisions. Formula below represents the original label, proceeded with the revision made in 2017. But, if you’re here to read about Synedrex in 2022, click HERE

What Is Synedrex:

Synedrex by Metabolic Nutrition is a thermogenic fat burner. Like other fat burners and diet pills, Synedrex aimed to promote weight loss through:

  • Increasing Metabolism/Thermogenesis
  • Boosting Energy and Focus
  • Suppressing Appetite

SYNEDREX-SF-2015

Synedrex: The Old Formula (2016):

The original formula of Synedrex featured nearly an entirely different ingredient blend compared to the newer version. This formula contained vitamin B3, B6, and B12, as well as Chromium and a proprietary blend. In it’s proprietary blend, there were 920 mg of active ingredients, which included:

  • Methylxanthine
  • Methylpentane Citrate
  • Sulbutiamine
  • Sandalwood Extract
  • Yohimbine Extract
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid
  • Poly-Thyronine

Section Divider: Synedrex: The Formula Revision (2017)

Synedrex: The Formula Revision (2017):

Product Image: Synedrex 2017 Formula

As you can see from the image above, the formula has basically completely changed. The newer formula ditched the vitamins and minerals, and sticks to the prop blend. But this blend is only 614 mg of active ingredient, which featured:

  • Caffeine
  • 2-Aminoisoheptane
  • Eria Jarensis Extract
  • Grains of Paradise
  • Bitter Orange Extract
  • Yohimbine HCL
  • Higenamine
  • Hordenine
  • Huperzine A
  • Naringin
  • N-Methylphenethylamine (NMPEA)
  • L-Dopa
  • Poly-Thyronine

Because Synedrex contains a proprietary blend, we aren’t able to directly compare ingredients against their dosages. So instead, we’ll focus on comparing the uses and the research!

Poly-Thyronine:

Poly-Thyronine is the only directly consistent ingredient between the formulas. This compound is a combination of two T2 thyroid hormone metabolites. These are compounds in the human body that help increase your metabolic rate. While also decreasing your appetite without impacting heart rate, or blood pressure.(2)

Yohimbine:

As you can see in the labels above, both show yohimbine as an ingredient in the prop blend. But the previous formula doesn’t define what form of yohimbine is in the formula, whereas the newer formula clears indicates the formula includes yohimbine HCl. Yohimbine is an active alkaloid found in the bark of yohimbe. Yohimbine HCl, however, is a standardized form of this alkaloid. (3)

The Hard Hitters:

Unlike in it’s previous formula, this new version is full of stimulants, which can be a great fat burning tool for some. Stimulants can promote metabolism and aid in increasing fat burning. Additionally, stimulants can aid in promoting appetite suppression. This issue with a stimulant-dominant formula is tolerance. The more often you use stimulants the higher the chance of your becoming tolerant. Meaning you may not feel effects of the stimulants you take, even when they are active in you system.  †

In this formula this includes:

  • Caffeine provides a solid increase in energy, focus, and alertness, as well as enhancing lipolysis in the body. (4)
  • 2-Aminoisoheptane is like DMAA, but not as potent. It acts as a bronchodilator. Meaning it will increase your oxygen capacity, and it also has vaso-constricting properties. (5)
  • Eria Jarensis Extract is a stimulant often compared to the likes of DMAA or AMP Citrate. But, is milder in energy but tends to have more of a euphoric effect while improving cognition.†
  • Bitter Orange Extract is standardized for N-methyl tyramine, octopamine, and synephrine, which all may aid in enhancing the body’s natural fat burning abilities as well as energy and focus.(6)
  • Yohimbine HCL is an ingredient often promoted for targeting areas of “stubborn fat”. While this would need more research to support, yohimbine HCl may increase energy expenditure, lipolysis, and suppress appetite.(7,8).
  • Hordenine is similar in chemical structure to stimulants found in bitter orange. Because of this similarity there may be some cross over with the benefits in this ingredient, including promoting thermogenesis. (9)

mood boosters

The Feel Goods:

One characteristic of Synedrex that it is famous for is it’s mood boosting properties. When you feel good, you’re more likely to make good decisions. That goes across the board, from planning meals to making it to the gym. So have an arsenal of mood boosting ingredients can be you edge to get ahead on your weight loss journey. These ingredients include:

  • Caffeine
  • 2-Aminoisoheptane
  • Eria Jarensis Extract
  • Yohimbine HCL
  • Hordenine
  • Huperzine A
  • N-Methylphenethylamine (NMPEA)
  • L-Dopa

*As mentioned above..

Stimulants serve many purposes, among those include cognitive benefits. This is be experienced as elevated alertness, mood, and focus.

  • Huperzine A is a natural antidepressant, which has is considered useful in treating memory related diseases; like Alzheimer’s. (10)
  • N-Methylphenethylamine (NMPEA) is alkaloid that may have a wide range of uses including being a stimulant, improving mood, and cognitive performances†.
  • L-Dopa is found in Mucuna Pruriens is an essential compound for your brain to produce dopamine. Research suggests that this compound may boost dopamine level, particularly in individuals with Parkinson’s disease. But may also be effective as an antidepressant (11,12)

Noteworthy:

If you’ve read through the label, you may have noticed there was ingredients we haven’t covered:

  • Grains of Paradise
  • Naringin

Naringin is a natural chemical compound known as a bioflavanoid found in grapefruit. It also works synergistically with other nutrients, increasing the bio-availability.(13)

Grains of Paradise, or Paradoxine, is spice that may help increase weight loss. Research indicates paradoxine may enhance fat loss and increase energy expenditure.(14,15)

Synedrex in 2021:

SYNEDREX-NEW-INGREDIENTS 2019

This version of Synedrex differs slightly from that last release. Firstly, if features 650mg of active ingredients compared to 614mg. This formula features:

  • Caffeine
  • Eria Jarensis
  • Grains of Paradise
  • Bitter Orange Extract
  • Yohimbine HCl
  • Higenamine
  • Hordenine
  • Huperzine A
  • Naringin
  • N-Methylphenethylamine (NMPEA)
  • L-Dopa
  • Poly-Thyronine

So what’s different?

In 2021, Synedrex does not contain DMHA. This means, some individuals may not not feel it as effective as the previous version. However, the additional 36mg of active ingredients likely went to boosting the current stimulants in the formula. So we would rank these versions around same for strength.

Synedrex in 2022:

Synedrex Supplement Facts Image

In October 2022, Synedrex was once again reformulated. As you can see on the supplement facts above, this formula is still within a proprietary blend. However, this new blend features about 20mg less of active ingredients compared to the previous formula.

This ingredients featured in this version is:

  • Caffeine Anhydrous
  • Eria Jarensis Extract
  • Naringin Extract
  • Grains of Paradise
  • Evodiamine Extract
  • Yohimbine HCl
  • Vanadyl Sulfate
  • Alpha Yohimbe
  • Huperzine A Extract
  • Chromium Polynicotinate Extract
  • Naringin
  • L-Dopa
  • Poly-Thyronine Extract
  • Black Pepper Extract

This formula has subbed out the Bitter Orange Extract and similar compounds like Higenamine and Hordenine. Instead Synedrex will feature addition yohimbe, Evodiamine, Vanadyl Sulfate and Chromium. Overall, this formula may benefit individuals looking for more thermogenesis rather than energy/appetite suppression. However, this formula may also support boosting mood and focus too.†

What Are The Benefits of Synedrex?

Now that we’ve covered what’s in Synedrex, we need to go over what you might expect with Synedrex. For starters, this formula is packed with stimulants. So although it has less total mg of active ingredients than back in 2015, we expect this formula to be stronger. That goes across the board for energy, appetite suppression, and focus.

Next, Synedrex features a several ingredients that support mood boosting properties. Therefore we expect this formula to promote more of a euphoric feeling. Overall, if you liked the previous formula, we would say you’re going to like this version too. But let’s see what the reviews say…

Its Back Review by Kern: At first I was skeptical about the return of synedrex. I tried all the products that were supposed to be its replacement, and none really copied it close enough. Synedrex Alternatives:

SYNEDREX-WEIGHT-LOSS-STACK

The good news is that unlike Synadrene, Synedrex is currently available in November 2021! However, if you were looking for other fat burners that compare to Synedrex here’s what we would recommend!

If you love Synedrex, but aren’t getting the results you wanted you could try adding to your weight-loss stack! For example, in our Synedrex Weight Loss Stack, we include both Hydravax and Thyrene to compliment Synedrex.

Hydravax is a diuretic that features a blend of ingredients aimed at reducing water weight. In addition to these herbs and extracts Hydravax also features 50mg of Caffeine per capsule. So if you’re sensitive to stimulants, you may want to opt out of Hydravax. Alternatively, you could try stacking with a fat burner that features less stimulants like Stimulean

Thyrene, on the other hand, is a fat burner aimed to support weight loss through hormone regulation. The ingredients in Thyrene were selected to concentrate on thyroid activity in order to promote metabolism while being stimulant-free.

Synedrex VS Synadrene

During the period that Metabolic Nutrition was revising Synedrex, a new fat burner was released by Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals, Synadrene. Not only are the names similar, Synadrene is very similar to the 2015 formula of Synedrex.

SYNADRENE-INGREDIENTS

But there are some noteworthy differences. For starters, Synadrene features 815mg of active ingredients compared to the 614mg in the original Synedrex and 650mg in the current version of Synedrex. This formula features:

  • Caffeine
  • Green Tea Extract
  • 2-Aminoisoheptane HCl (DMHA)
  • Walnut Extract
  • Sulbutiamine
  • Sandalwood Extract
  • Yohimbe Extract
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid
  • Poly-Thyronine

Of those ingredients, Synadrene only features 3 ingredients entirely direct from the OG Synedrex; Green Tea Extract, DMHA, and Walnut Extract. Additionally, instead of featuring the standardized alkaloid of yohimbine, Synadrene features yohimbe. Which is often the source of these alkaloids.

Compared to the current version of Synedrex, Synadrene only shares Caffeine and Poly-Thyronine.

synadrene-

Is Synadrene Stronger?

Due to the inclusion of DMHA in Synadrene, we would expect it to be the stronger of the two for energy. However, for overall thermogenesis, we would expect Synedrex to rise up. This is because of the Eria Jarensis, Grains of Paradise, Yohimbine HCl, Bitter Orange Extract, and Hordenine. Additionally, we would expect Synedrex to promote mood and focus better due to the combination of Huperzine A, NMPEA, and L-Dopa. As far as appetite suppression goes, both fat burners could be a great option. But, because Synadrene contains some strong stimulants, we expect it to be more prominent there.
