Insane Veinz VS Insane Veinz Gold: Which Is the Better Pump Product in 2021?

Insane Veinz VS Insane Veinz Gold: Which Is the Better Pump Product in 2021?

When it comes to selecting a pre workout, there are a ton of factors to consider. One of the first is whether or not you want a stimulated pre workout or a non-stimulated one. In this post, we’ll be comparing two non-stimulated pre workouts, Insane Veinz VS Insane Veinz Gold.

Section Divider

What Are They?

Both Insane Veinz and Insane Veinz Gold are non-stimulated pre workouts from Insane Labz. Because they are non-stimulated, both pre workouts aim to aid in increasing endurance, vascularity, and focus.† However, although their names are so similar, their formulas have some significant differences.

What’s The Same?

Besides their names, Insane Veinz and Insane Veinz Gold do share an ingredient, Betaine Anhydrous.

Betaine is a methyl derivative of the amino acid glycine with many functions in humans, including the ability to shield cells under stress due to its osmolyte properties. Unlike other osmolytes such as sodium, betaine reduces the ability of water molecules to solvate proteins. As a result, it aids in stabilizing protein structures. (1) This can translate to preventing protein structure degradation.

So how does betaine influence your workout?

Recent studies indicate that betaine may aid in increasing lean mass and reduce adipose tissue. This effect may be a result of the influence on growth hormones, IGF-1 expression, and protein synthesis regulation that betaine has. (2) Additionally, betaine supplementation may reduce the loss of muscle strength after fatiguing exercise. (3,4)

What’s Different?

As we mentioned, these formulas are more different than the same. In Insane Veinz, we have Agmatine Sulfate, Beet Root Extract, and Russian Tarragon Extract. While in Insane Veinz Gold, we have HydroMax Glycerol, Nitrosigine, and OxyGold. First, let’s go over Insane Veinz!

INSANE VEINZ

Agmatine Sulfate

Agmatine is an endogenous neuromodulator that is present in both the brain and spinal cord, which has been studied for its potential benefits in treating  depression, anxiety, neuropathic pain, cognitive decline and learning impairment, dependence on drugs, and metabolic diseases (diabetes and obesity). Interestingly, agmatine functions as a free radical scavenger. Thus, aiding in cellular protection. (5)

So how does this affect exercise performance?

Agmatine is a metabolite of arginine. Therefore it is possible there are some effects of arginine like vasodilation that are present in agmatine. However, agmatine is more recently studied for benefits in improving cognition. Meaning it may aid in learning and memory as well. (6)

Beet Root Extract

Beets, a root vegetable, has a long history of being used in traditional medicine for treating conditions like constipation and even gut and joint pain. Yet, modern medicine indicates that red beets can exhibit antihypertensive and hypoglycaemic activity (as well as be a good source for antioxidants). The antihypertensive effects may be a result of beets being a source of nitrates. Which are often used to aid in vasodilation. (7)

However, there is a conflict in studies of beet root extract for exercise performance.

While there are recent studies indicating that this extract may be beneficial for improving power output, performance, and even recovery, there are also studies that indicate the benefits of beet root extract are limited. (8,9) Included in the limitations, these benefits seem to be more noticeable in new gym-goers/untrained populations, rather than trained athletes. Additionally, these benefits were more prevalent in endurance exercises. (10)

Russian Tarragon Extract

Russian Tarragon Extract of Artemisia dracunculus is herb that comes from a botanic family widely known for hydroxycinnamic acids, which aid in its antioxidant effects. Tarragon specifically has a variety of beneficial properties, including anti-inflammatory effects, antihyperglycemic effects (antidiabetic effects), and insulin sensitizing effects. These properties are being studied for their potential to aid in combating metabolic syndrome. (11)

But that’s not the limit of tarragon. Studies also indicate that it may enhance creatine retention and promote greater ergogenic benefits compared to creatine supplementation alone. (12) However, there is no creatine in Insane Veinz. So to possibly benefit from this effect, you’ll have to consider adding a creatine supplement.

INSANE VEINZ GOLD

HydroMax Glycerol

Glycerol is important for conditions where glucose is deprived, such as aerobic, anaerobic conditions and even prolonged fasted states. Under these circumstances, gluconeogenesis (production of glucose) comes from glycerol metabolism. In addition to this important role, glycerol has osmoprotective properties. Because of this, supplementation of glycerol is beneficial for improving athletic performance and maintaining hydration. This can be experienced as reduced muscle fatigue and, therefore, improved endurance. (13,14)

Nitrosigine

Nitrosigine is an inositol-stabilized arginine silicate. Research indicates that it may promote the increase of arginine, silicon, and nitric oxide production. This will translate to improvements in endurance and may promote better recovery. Interestingly, like agmatine, research on nitrosigine is looking into cognitive improvements. Studies indicate it may aid in improving the ability to perform on complex cognitive tests requiring mental flexibility, processing speed, and executive functioning.  (15)

OxyGold

The intention of OxyGold or Fulvic Acid is to help promote the bioavailability of the other ingredients in this formula. Including aid in transport of minerals and other nutrients, boosting absorption of nutrients, and may even aid fight inflammation. However, this ingredient needs more research on its effectiveness. Which Should You Take?

Now that we’ve gone through each of the formulas, which is the better pre workout? Truthfully, they come pretty close in comparison despite the different ingredients. However, because the Insane Veinz Gold contains both more mgs in the proprietary blend and the addition of OxyGold, we would expect this version to have a more substantial effect on your workouts.

That’s not to say Insane Veinz won’t be effective though. In fact, if you’re taking creatine or if your stimulant pre workout has creatine in the formula, we would recommend trying Insane Veinz. This is because of the Tarragon Extract in the formula. But of course, at the end of the day, individual experiences will vary.
